    2. It was a nice read about a second chance romance. Very likable characters. It was a BDSM romance, but very little drama. A lot of the story I forgot already except that Stephan met Viola when he worked for her father when she was 17 turning 18 and Stephan was 21. People interfered in there "relationship" and they disconnected. Years later they meet at an event. They reconnect and their story begins. It was not a bad read, but it was not a "OMG, I could not stop reading."

    3. 3.5 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️This book is a positive story about second chances, being true to yourself and learning to overcome your past. The story is told in the present day 3rd person POV but there are glimpses into the past and both Viola and Stephen recollecting the summer when they first met.Overall I enjoyed the characters, the lighthearted banter and playfulness throughout the story and it was a great introduction into BDSM for those who have not read or know much about that particular p [...]

    4. I was gifted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.Stephen Silkwood is a famous historical history writer. His subject matter makes some people nervous with its brutality. Unfortunately, he never thought it would come back to bite him in the ass.The last person Viola Bennett thought she would see at a panel discussion at the college she worked at was the man who broke her heart nine years ago. Shocked yet somehow elated all she could think of was how much she wanted [...]

    5. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars. After reading some very poorly written books, I picked up this book and it was like a breath of fresh air. This was a beautifully written story about a dark romance/mystery writer, Stephen, and Viola, a professor of literature who has just published a scathing review of his latest book. Seems these two had a brief affair years ago and when they meet again she knows who he is instantly, but he doesn't remember her right away. The affair was doomed because her fath [...]

    6. The Dangerous Hero is the first book I read by Linda Barlow and I definitely loved it :) This for sure won't be the last book I read of hers. The story is intriguing and entertaining and the writing is superb. The characters are well developed and complex. They feel like real people and during the whole story I felt like I knew them. The Dangerous Hero is a story of second chances. I enjoyed reading how Stephan and Viola build a new relationship from the ashes of the past and overcome all the mis [...]

    7. I really didn’t know what to expect when I read The Dangerous Hero but I was pleasantly surprised. Linda Barlow really used (what I like to call) long-sleeved kid gloves to introduce a subject to readers who may be new to this particular story line. She dealt with consenting sexuality with understanding, love, and kindness…d kink!Even before the story opened, Ms. Barlow had me laughing. In her descriptive blurb, Viola (one of the main characters) asks herself: “can she trust a man whose ho [...]

    8. I received a ARC for my honest opinion. This was a fantastic book and I really couldn't put it down. I loved it that much. Linda has created yet another gem to add to her novels. Linda touched on different subjects in this story and everyone she did with the most respect. Not being a newbie to the BDSM and kink genre, I wasn't shocked by anything however, the way she wrote about this lifestyle and genre would be perfect for first readers because she really laid out the lifestyle. This book reall [...]

    9. This was my first book I've read from author Linda Barlow and it definitely won't be my Last! It had so many flavors from light hearted to dark desires from sex to secrets just amazingly written. I fell in love with the characters Viola and Sir Stephen lol. They're candle relight as soon as they found each other so sweet but very sensual. I even emphasize with Percy an Bart lol. He finally saw some light in his darkness. The creativity from the "garage" and the " boathouse " and violas deep secr [...]

    10. I started out by giving this book four stars. I changed my mind and upped it to five. Viola and Stephen met when she was a teen. She fell for him during that summer. Unbeknownst to her she wouldn't see him till years later. Hurt and anger consumed her. She meets him again later on. He's a renowned writer and she gave himself a scathing review. I was pulled in immediately. Sometimes it takes me awhile to get through a book. I watch my granddaughter so there's no reading then. Haha. This book made [...]

    11. Stephen is a man with a dark side and sets it free in the books he writes. But he also wants to find that one special person to share it with as well. Stephen and Viola shared a summer romance and then he vanished. Now he is back and wants a second chance with Viola, but with the violence of her past can she trust this man with her heart and her body. Wonderful read. A kinky, sexy book that shows Viola may be the one tied up but in truth she holds all the power. If she can learn to trust Stephen [...]

    12. This story does a lot to explain BDMS.It's easy to understand. The characters have a sense of humor also. Although Viola was scared of Stephen when they first had sex because he was rough, years later she decided to try BDMS with him. She finally loved it.I really enjoyed this story. I thank Linda for making it a full lenhth novel in stead of a short novella with a series.I highly recommend this book.

    13. This is in the box set Healing Submission. This story is very, very good. If you can no longer get the box set, by all means, you should definitely get this book separately. This is my first reading of Linda Barlow's work but it will definitely not be my last.

    14. * * * obsessed by books arc given for an honest review * * * I really enjoyed this book, but I love BDSM. This book was a second chance at love . Stephen let his love slip away once his not letting go again, but can it survive the past of his and Viola. This book was, sexy, hot. A great read

    15. abuse survivor falls in love with an experienced dom. he doesn't know about he abuse and accidentally triggers a ptsd reaction. she pulls back. he pursues, gently. hea.

    16. He'd been a sex god nine years ago, and he still was. Didn't sexual chemistry have an expiration date? *snicker* WOW! I am so impressed with Linda’s writing & writing…yle, I guess is the correct term! This is my first book of hers and I cannot wait to read more! It is very beautifully written with just the right amount of EVERYTHING to make it PERFECT! I felt that this was my best friend’s story that I was reading because Viola is so relatable, so loveable, so funny…so REAL! I love t [...]

    17. THE DANGEROUS HERO is the second book I’ve read written by Linda Barlow – and I absolutely loved it. Her storyline is witty, her characters well developed, charming and believable, it is hard to not fall for them. This is Stephen Silkwood and Viola Bennett’s story. It is a story about second chances and about trust, placed in a well-thought-out and authentic BDSM setting.Stephen is an author of successful historic novels with an unusually brutal and despicable hero. People love the books no [...]

    18. This was delightful, it had a ring of truth to the whole scenario or perhaps that is not the correct analogy, I should say that it had its feet firmly planted on the right side of the BDSM scene.A thoroughly modern take on two adults who find love again in all it guises and learn to enjoy not only themselves but each other.I’m not saying that everything would be to every readers taste but what I will say is that the author did an outstanding job of showing that relationships, not just those th [...]

    19. First encounters can make a lasting impression. For Viola this was certainly the case with Stephen and she was devastated when he left without a word. Fast forward to when they meet again and that spark is still there. But Viola refuses to explore the possibilities with him as a result of an abusive ex-husband and the fact that Stephen is an author whose hero is a sadistic man. Viola is unable to separate the man from the fiction, as there has to be some of the man in the fiction, right? Stephen [...]

    20. Stephen is Viola's least favorite author as he writes books with an extremely violent main character. When she ends up on a speaking panel with him there is quite the chemistry there. She remembers that chemistry well while he shows no recollection of her. He asks her out and she turns him down. Then his friend mentions who her father is and that summer they spent together comes back into his mind. He tries again to get her to meet with him and she agrees. That's when the feelings they had years [...]

    21. I was provided with a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The story revolves Stephen Silkwood, a writer and someone who has strange tastes in deciding and manifesting love. The first woman he ever first tried his violent love on, was someone he could also never get out of his mind. As his path crosses Viola Bennett's once again, he is determined to not mess up his chances this time. Viola is plagued by the past and her complete mistrust of this man who broke her heart, sha [...]

    22. Well written with a few editing issues, mostly missing or extra words. This is a stand-alone book with no cliffhanger, although the main character appears in two of her prior books (which I haven't yet read.)I really enjoyed this story about two people reconnecting nine years after a brief romance. At the point they reconnect, each is successful in their own careers, and confident of themselves professionally. The main female character is recently divorced from a very bad marriage, and not so co [...]

    23. Dangerous Hero is intense from the start. Viola had her heart broken as a young girl by the man she thought she might have a future with. Years later Stephen is successful writing about a character that is dark and twisted. Viola is on a discussion panel with Stephen where she reveals to him that she is the published reviewer who doesn’t think so highly of his work. Her heart also aches that he doesn’t recognize her as the girl from so many years ago. Stephen discovers who she is and is dete [...]

    24. "What a Amazing book!"This is an amazing BDSM Romance. The story line is fantastic! What starts off as a steamy fling with Stephen when Viola is just a teen turns into a raging storm when they meet up again years later. The Characters are incredible! Viola is a spunky assistant Professor at Stephen's best friends college that Jeff works at. Stephen is now a sexy as heck Author that Viola had given a bad review to LOL . Viola thought Stephen had just dropped her when they were younger, But her fa [...]

    25. Great book! This book is about second chances. Two people fall for each other when they were very young. Circumstances took them in different directions for 9 years. Read the book to find out why. Then they meet again after 9 years and the chemistry is still there. But both have life experiences that need to be understood. This author writes so wonderfully that you become the characters. The love story, sex scenes, plot are all fabulous. I would advise to read her other books first. Blazing Night [...]

    26. 'The Dangerous Hero' was a bonus novel at the end of Linda Barlow's book 'Call Me Killer' which I loved. 'Hero' starts out as a sweet second chance love story which unfortunately, quickly turns into a manual for the BDSM lifestyle. If you are into that, this book is definitely for you! I am not, and would have liked to have more of the 'second chance love story' as the story's primary focus. Since I would never choose to read this book on its own, I felt a rating of 3 was neutral. I really like [...]

    27. I received this book in exchange for an honest review. This is a second chance love story and I LOVE a second chance love story. The writing is brilliant! Linda Barlow is such a great writer; she makes you feel like you're a part of the story. I couldn't put the book down. Viola is a professor and Stephen is a writer. They met and had a romance 9 years before, but due to a misunderstanding, they broke up. They meet again and the chemistry is still there. Viola and Stephen have great interactions [...]

    28. The Dangerous Hero by Linda BarlowThe story is about Viola and Stephen. They had an affair in the summer when she was 18 and he 21. He disappeared of her life and meet in a conference years later. He was on BDSM and she has an abused past with her ex-husband. There were lots of explanations about BDSM and how trust and safe is a main concern. The development was about regaining trust. I think the story was clear, directed to clarify ideas, slow paced but it let you to know better the characters. [...]

    29. This is a great book. I loved the story of Stephen and Viola. They first met when Stephen was in his early twenties and Viola barely eighteen and meet again nine years later. When they meet again and Stephen, a successful author, doesn't recognize Viola the sparks fly. Viola is a literary professor, and has reviewed Stephens books. She hates Stephens main characters and writes scathing reviews. They get together again and Stephen introduces Viola to BDSM. Nine years in a long time and a lot can ha [...]

    30. I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. This is my first read by this author.Viola is a professor with a sad past. Stephen is just the man to help her work through it all. Her past with Derek made me want to hurt him myself. Stephen has a kink side and teaches Viola to not only accept it but to let go and really enjoy it. I really enjoyed this read. I liked the fact that her father was on scene and helpful as well. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading BDSM books. [...]
