    About "Pippa DaCosta"

    1. Pippa DaCosta

Born in Kent in 1979, USATODAY bestselling author Pippa Wait a second Let s cut to the chase I write kick ass urban fantasy sci fi novels with conflicted characters, breathless action, and no holds barred dialogue My books may not leave you feeling all fluffy and warm inside, but they will excite you There will be plot twists, angst, probably a few dead bodies, and very likely your favorite character will turn out to be the bad guy Don t say I didn t warn you pippadacosta I review on as a reader, not a writer Reviews here are my personal opinion, not a professional one.

    1. ☠ Muahahaha My Evil Cunning Plan Worked and the MacHalos are Hooked on this Slightly Mind-Blowing Series Muahahaha Muahahaha Again Buddy Reread (MMYCPWatMaHotSMBSMMBR™) ☠➽ And the moral of this I'm Cunning and I Love It Buddy Reread (ICaILIBR™) is: I want to be a demon when I grow up. But not any demon, oh no. I want to be a Freakin' Amazin' Pippa DaCosta Demon (FAPDCD™). Because they're deliciously ruthless. And delightfully devious. And beautifully fucked up. And freakin' amazin'. [...]

    2. *** 4 ***A buddy read with the wildest coolest MacHalos on GR!!! Let's get our Demons on!This was fun! More like a dark, tortured, twisted kind of fun, the kind that leaves you rung out, hopeless, helpless, and devastated, but then gives you just a little spark of hope that maybe, just maybe, if things lined up just right, things could get better. Right, Ms Pippa DaCosta? You will leave us with some hope left by the end of the series, Right?I love Urban Fantasy! Yes, I love its bigger, older bro [...]

    3. This was bloody amazing! Why doesn't have ratings like a million stars??? It was so much better than the first book! Like a gazillion times better. All that action, the "trip" to the netherworld, meeting (view spoiler)[Stephan's mom - She was the bomb! (hide spoiler)], Muse dealing with all her guilt and the absence of her demon, gahg! I just can't think, let alone put my thoughts into words! JUST READ IT, PEOPLE!!!28.10.2016WARRNING! UNTAGGED SPOILERS AHEAD!Now that I've had a few days to calm [...]

    4. This installment in the series is a little bit darker than the first book. It probably has a little to do that we get to go into the Netherworld, which is essentially hell and Muse is on so many bad guys radar but most of all she is on a sadistic sociopaths which is never good.Muse thought she killed her owner Damien. It has been over fifteen years but it seems that he has found her in Boston and is killing other women to leave as his calling card to let Muse know he is back. First let’s just [...]

    5. Devil May Care was a decent read, but it was not quite so good as Beyond the Veil. Mainly because it was too dark! The first book had its dark moments, but balanced things out by having a bit of romance. This installment lacked both humor and romance which I felt hurt my enjoyment of the story.Things picked up in this one where they left off in Beyond the Veil with both Akil and Stefan trapped in the Netherworld and with Muse blocked off from her demon half. Muse has been pressed into action for [...]

    6. I fell even harder for Akil in this book. I'm curious to learn more about this world and the developments with Stefan look interesting. Diving into the next one now.

    7. Devil May Care picks up Muse's story about six months after the end of Beyond the Veil. Stefan and Akil are still trapped in the netherworld and although Muse is determined to get Stefan out she knows she can't do anything without her demon side so she is trying to win the trust of the Institute so that they'll give her the antidote to the drug that has locked her demon deep inside her. As if that wasn't bad enough when she is asked to investigate a spate of murders she realises that her demon o [...]

    8. Devil May Care isn't bad. The author doesn't commit any unforgivable sins. It flows along nicely. It's like a BBC Detective Show, there's nothing wrong with any of them.except they're all the same. And that's really what I'm feeling with this series. It's OK but I've seen it all before. If it was a three book series, I'd probably continue. I already have book three as a part of an omnibus. But I've just noticed there are at least five books and honestly I don't think I have that sort of patience [...]

    9. "You see me, I know you do. But you fail to recognize me."Darker and crazier than BTV. Stefan got interesting and Akil got sexier, if that's even possible.Better than the first book, for sure.

    10. One thing is for sure, Pippa Dacosta doesn’t flinch away from the dark. It’s one thing to know your heroine has endured the stuff of nightmares. It’s another to see it happen on the page. Muse faced a tough battle in the first book of this series, but it was nothing compared to her fight in this installment. That’s because her owner is back. The demon she thought she had killed to win her freedom isn’t only alive, but he’s in the human world and he’s hunting her. It’s only a matt [...]

    11. I didn’t like this quite as much as Beyond the Veil, but it was still really good. There was a lot of angst that wasn’t in the first book. Muse’s life had been flipped upside down. Adam the evil bastard who runs the institute had her constrained. She had to do what he asked because it was the only way for her to save Stefan. Working for Adam was a miserable experience. Her work for the institute revealed that someone from her past was coming for her, and life wouldn’t be pleasant if she [...]

    12. I knew from the first book that there was more to learn about Akil, the Prince of Greed and a most powerful demon from the netherworld. In this second installment, Akil's true colors shine! We learn about the complex relationship between Akil and Muse, and get a peek into the history that brought Muse from her tortured life in the netherworld and into the City of Boston, where she did her best to bring forth her human side to live a normal life. Of course, all that has changed, and in this book [...]

    13. Rating : 4.5 starsThis series is bloody brilliant. The universe is brilliant. The characters are brilliant.Pippa Dacosta is brilliant.I really don't understand why it took me so long to start reading it.The pros- The writing- Muse. Muse. Muse. Muse.Muse is totally broken and she's one of the most original and surprising heroines i ever came across.- Akil.So. Much. Charisma. Even not around, i can't stop thinking about him. Man, i'm head over heels.- The world.Complex, deep, beautiful and dark. Yup [...]

    14. Well, this twisted little shit-storm of icy madness deserves a round of applause. What am I supposed to do after this book, huh?Jesus, okay. Sooooo.Muse is a demon. Half-demon. Fire elemental. With the power of psychometry, reading of metal. And, as it turns out(view spoiler)[bastard daughter of the Prince of Lust. (hide spoiler)] Her life is complicated. But her love life??Seriously. Her demon half is more than half in love with Akil, aka Mammon, Prince of Greed. A selfish bastard of epic porpor [...]

    15. A sensational sequel of intricate multi-layered depth and surreal ‘dreamlike’ quality This extraordinary otherworldly creation is full of quirky idiosyncrasy and refreshing concepts, as to push through convention with originality. Having read and loved book 1 in The Veil series (Beyond the Veil) expectations were high as I delved into this scintillating story, which continues Akil and Stephan’s epic journey of self-discovery and enlightenment. Deftly interweaving ethereal paranormal themes [...]

    16. After the catastrophic events from Beyond the Veil, the first book in DaCosta's Veil series, Muse's hard-fought freedom was stripped away. After finally being free from her owner, Damien, Muse finds herself once again under the control of another, a prisoner of a different sort. After being forced to work for the Institute, Muse is now an Enforcer, her demon-half still suppressed by her Institute bosses, mainly smarmy and secretive Adam. When enforcers around Muse are discovered to have been mur [...]

    17. I received an ecopy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. What can I say about this book, other than the fact I loved it? Well, loads more! For one,the cover is beautiful displaying Muse and her element. If you compare covers from the first in the series (Beyond the Veil) to this one, you can definitely see a change in Muse. The cover is definitely relevant to this story, it gives you a hint about the book. I thought it was wonderfully clever for Mrs. DaCostas to do this. [...]

    18. Six months after Akil and Stephen disappeared into the veil, Muse goes by the name Charlie, working as an Enforcer for the Institute. Three other Enforcers were murdered with their bodies brutalized and when she caught a glimpse of who it was, she was terrified. Muse thought she'd killed Damien--her owner before Akil saved her. He was alive and he's back to take back what once was his. She thought she can just easily kill him again but Damien is different this name, more powerful that ever befor [...]

    19. Actual Rating: 1.5 starsI didn't like it.It feels like a mess. Incongruous, with character that have no sense or reason. And to top it all off, it is boring.

    20. I Love Pippa DaCosta!!! She puts me through the wringer every single book! I do tell you that Muse/Charlie needs to catch a breakriously. This book was packed with action and heartbreaking rule changers. Muse studies to become an enforcer for the Institute, when her former Owner Damien appears on the scene. In this book you get to know Ryder and Charlie better, but what I liked is that you also got to know the demon world and see where Muse came from. Akil and Stefan both face life battles, and [...]

    21. So far, I'm really happy I found this series. Things just don't seem to fall in line for Muse and everything seems to be a struggle. Kinda like real life, except for the demon part. I like how Muse isn't one to just blindly follow. She uses her head and her heart, even if she can't always act on it.Not a fan of Adam. Oh boy, am I not! This guy might be protecting everybody from demons the best way he knows how, but I'm still hoping he gets his in the end. The ending of this book, I place at his [...]

    22. Next. Please. Can't talk, downloading next book.Love Muse, she is fabulous. All of the characters have so much of a story, I'm hooked.

    23. Full review at onceuponabookblog <3It wasn’t too long ago that I reviewed the first book in this series. I mentioned in that review that I really wanted to find out more about Muse and her past, I really wanted to find out more about Stefan and I REALLY wanted to know more about Akil. I needed to figure out what was going on with him, he seemed like such a mystery. So I was excited to get into this book and get more… more of everything! And I was absolutely not disappointed! In this book w [...]

    24. Well now, holy moly. I'm not sure what I should say about this one. It's a fantastic continuation from the first book, the characters are growing and changing, but boy this one was a little hard to read. Not how you're thinking. But there's torture, and evil demons, and lots of fear. And thought the first book had its darker side, this one it grittier, and you actually get to see exactly how Muse was treated before she came to the human word and adopted her human side. It's rough, but boy was it [...]

    25. 5 Fangs for Devil May Care by Pippa DaCostaOnce again we are pulled into Muse’s world of demons, half-bloods, and The Institute. When we left her, Akil and Stephen had crossed over the veil, and Muse is sick to think of Stephen all alone in a world he knows nothing about. At least she grew up there, and understands what to expect. No amount of Institute training will prepare Stephen for what lies ahead. Oh, and time passes differently there, so the six months that have passed between the end o [...]

    26. So Many Demons, so little time. This series contains an complex world of demons with elemental powers. It reminds me of the television show Charmed. Muse is a half-demon who has escaped to the human world, trying to live a normal life. Now, she doesn’t have magical sisters to help her survive, but Muse’s chaotic energies could classify her as a witch in our world. From reading Beyond the Veil, we already know Muse is being groomed to be an Enforcer, a demon hunter. It’s not her choice. She [...]
