    1. I've seriously enjoyed reading this series and getting to know Aggie more and more. When I finished reading the story I felt almost bereft that I won't be reading another Aggie mysteryuntil today that is! I've JUST found out that there is indeed a FIFTH installment to the series!     2. All Ministry Cozy Mystery series are excellent, this one is no different. Aggie and Lucy watch a circus comes to town. They meet Sister Nora and friends. Aggis is persuaded to joined a committee to bring a celebrity judge to town. Gary Barber is to judge a amateur show. Aggie ends up as the go between Grady and the committee. Deenie and the Meanies is tried out for contest. Grady treats them rudely. Ed used Deenie's experience as a sign of courage in his weekly sermon much to her embarrassment. [...]

    4. I hate when I write a review, get more than half way through, then hit the wrong key and erase the whole thing. Oh well, here we go again.I do enjoy this series. Even though it's none to hard to figure out "who done it" the characters are enjoyable and the town holds some interest so it's a nice read.This story's plot revolves around a hometown boy Grady Barber coming home after to judge an "America's Got Talent" type contest.     8. I liked it pretty well. The author spent almost half the book getting to the murder and spent too long on how obnoxious Grady Barber was, so around page 75 I kept thinking he was going to die any minute and then he didn't. The who-done-it part was well done. I say the only real ding for me was that the last chapter of the book (albeit short) was a lecture on how we need to stop global warming and that it's up to each of us to do our part.     9. Fourth of a series, this is a competent mystery.The small town in which it is set, is well drawn, as are the characters. The mystery is set up convincingly: a number of possible suspects, a number of motives, a great many opportunities.Lieis not a love story in disguise. Nevertheless, our detective has an interesting life aside from detecting. There are a few paragraphs devoted to global warming that I thought a bit preachy, but that was the point of the tent show cum circus that hales into town [...]

    10. Seeing this in the bookstore was an unexpected pleasure -- I wasn't expecting her next mystery for at least another few months! Aggie Sloan-Wilcox succumbs to local pressure and agrees to be part of the committee raising money for a new pediatric wing for the local hospital. But the chosen fund-raiser -- the Emerald Springs Idyll, an American Idol pretender -- asks more of Aggie than she expected.     11. Minister's wife Aggie Wilcox-Sloan gets roped into serving on the committee for the Emerald Springs Idyll, a local charity talent show to raise money for a hospital wing. But celebrity judge Grady Barber is a royal pain in the neck. Someone else agrees when they kill him. This book took too long to get to the murder, but once it did, things picked back up.     12. Loved this book---her best so far in the Ministry is Murder series. Good plot, clever and lots of characters leading to subplots. Well integrated story. My only complaint (no fault of the author's) is that whoever desgined the back cover blurb told way too much of what happens. I'm hoping this series will go on a long time. Carolyn, I think you would like this book but take the series in order: "Let There Be Suspects", "Blessed is the Busybody" and "Beware False Profits". All four are now out in [...]

    13. Aggie Sloan-Wilcox is not a typically minister's wife. She isn't a saint and isn't looking for a halo but just wants to protect her family and friends and survive being the Mother of a pre teen daughter. When actor/singer Grady Barber returns to town to chair a big talent show fund raiser you can bet the enemies he left behind in high school have an ax to grind that leads to murder.

    14. This was not as good as the previous books in the series. It seemed to drag and although I wasn't able to guess the murderer's identity until almost the end, I didn't really care who did it. Other than Aggie and her family, there were no characters to be interested in. I am hoping the next one is more like the previous books.

    15. Another fine entry in the "Ministry is Murder" series, although I did not enjoy the story as much as I have the others. The character of Grady is just so completely irredeemable as to be unbelievable. I suppose there are people who are complete narcissists as he seems to be; I hope I never meet one in real life. Aggie and her family are as interesting and entertaining as ever.

    16. Another good one in this series. Aggie is an fun and unconventional lead character and narrates nicely. This is one of the few mystery series I buy instead of checking out of the library because I enjoy re-reading them even after I know "who done it."

    17. I won this book on GoodReads and received it in the mail yesterday. I read it last night and found it engaging and amusing. I liked the colorful characters and the situations that Aggie gets herself into. I will read more books by Emilie Richards

    19. Another enjoyable addition to this series. The main character, a minister's wife, is a more interesting and humorous personality than many of the main characters in mystery series. Makes for a fun read.

    20. I found this book to be entertaining. Again, a different venue but quite believable. This pastor's wife is far more approachable than literature usually gives us.It is a good mystery and the ending is interesting. This is a great series.

    21. I have read the first to books in this series and I enjoyed them. This one seemed a little long winded to me and I got bored to the point where I couldn't finish the book. I was a little disappointed. I generally finish each book that I start.

    29. A Lie for a Lie reads like a cross between Jan Karon's Mitford Series and Agatha Christie's Miss Marple mysteries, a pleasing combination of quaint and cozy.
